Modern cities can be overwhelming with their high-rises and bare surfaces. The other day I remembered that with summer coming the trees which do so much to soften Wellington’s urban landscape would soon be sprouting leaves and making photography difficult The main impression, looking upwards (since tall buildings and narrow streets make you instinctively seek the sky) is of the tangle of branches contrasting with the smooth slopes of concrete and glass. Added to that is the nearer tangle of trolley-bus wires    and many other cables festooning the middle distance.  The council has promised to remove the trolley-buses over the next couple of years, so photographers will have to get out there and  Incorporate them in their shots before it is too late!
